obey! conform! do not question authority!

take a look at this clip from the movie called “they live” that came out in 1988. the man finds a pair of sunglasses that exposes the urban environment today as it really is: an onslaught of corporate advertising and subliminal messages that envelop people’s minds and entire outlook on life. you are made blind to the infinite dimensions of reality by the consistent barrage of influences telling you to conform, consume, marry and reproduce. random statistic: the average city-dweller sees 2-3000 advertisements a day.

who were the founding fathers?

55 white men. rich slave-owners, bond-holders, merchants, land speculators. wealthy aristocrats. the ruling class. you were taught in school that they were humanitarian leaders of society, heroes of democracy that we must honor. you were taught that they wrote a list of principles “for keeping people free.” this is a falsehood.the founding fathers of america were the 1% of their era. the founding documents were written to create an oligarchy cleverly disguised a a democracy. the nationalistic rhetoric that you hear in political speeches and see in school textbooks is all part of the plan. the rich white men tried to convince everyone that america is a democracy, that america is a government in which the majority rules.  the problem is, most of you believed them! you have been indoctrinated by videos like the one below since you were a little kid, since your mind was first forming its conceptions about the world. you have been told nothing but lies ever since you first began to see yourself as part of society.

examine the video and ask yourself: who is writing american history? what ideals are we promoting in our schools? what ethnicities does the video include in its depiction of the american melting pot? why can’t the girl vote? notice the last scene. it shows a wooden house in the middle of the woods. next the trees get cut down and hundreds of identical houses are built. (suburbia) next hundreds of american flags are erected, one outside of each house. is this or is it not promoting america as a blind mass of citizens who willingly submit to a societal system in which standardization and conformity are the keystones and most important principles? is it or is it not promoting a lazy and uneducated population who does what it is told? (that means believing that voting for one of two figureheads that the wealthy have put forth on the ballot is the only way you can be politically active. oh, and waving an american flag and clapping when a politician says he believes in liberty is also good)

school is an institution of american society! you will never see the truth if you think school gives you an education. school gives you a dogmatic indoctrination. begin by examining who the founding fathers really were.

what is this saying about the american vision? do the people in the pictures accurately portray the ethnic composition of america? do they accurately represent

“the people?”

occupy movement: it’s bigger than the government

we don’t want to elect someone. this isn’t a liberal tea party. this isn’t a burst of interest in the phony game of politics. this is not occupy congress. it’s not occupy the house of representatives or occupy washington. it began as occupy wall street because the form of capitalism that has been created puts ridiculous amounts of money into the hands of a few and leaves millions of people impoverished. it began as occupy wall street because the billionaires who have all the money have been paying to put politicians in office. wall street is the government. that is why we are exposing the bankers, not the puppets they paid to stand in office for them. peep mike moore in oakland:

george carlin on the 1% (the big club doesn’t give a f*ck about you)

some people and news reporters are asking what the occupy wall street movement is about. they complain that there are no demands, they ask why people are protesting. that is the softest thing i’ve ever heard. wake the f*ck up and do some research about the corruption built into the structure of this country ruled by corporations. then start asking real questions. who are the 1%? people aren’t protesting. they are waking up.

the 1% (big club) doesn’t give a f*ck about you!

^if you still don’t get it i’m afraid can’t help you.

photos from occupy oakland

there is a phenomenal (and quite gorgeous) international reporter i met recently who is stationed out in oakland, living and working admirably just blocks from the midst of the revolutionary fervor and occupy oakland headquarters. tonight, after the occupy oakland general strike successfully shut down the port of oakland (the fourth largest port in america), i was fortunate enough to speak with this reporter about the occupy wall street movement and its implications for the future of america and the world.

as a representative from the new york city camp i feel comfortable speaking on behalf of the movement. i see it as a completely new type of protest, a grassroots social movement spreading like wildfire that is driven by social media in the twenty-first century. the movement is a natural phase in our evolution- a growing awareness among human beings as we create our future and enter a new age of humankind and universal consciousness. the demonstrations in nearly 1,000 cities and 82 countries around the world within the last month are loud examples of how real this global awakening is. in an age where information and communication based technology has made up to date news coverage from around the world available to anyone with access to a computer, people are connecting with each other across borders in ways unseen or heard of before at any time in human history. and as we keep evolving it is only getting easier and more efficient to share pictures, videos, ideas and information with anyone; it is as if geographical boundaries have been erased. now that people are realizing the potential power in social media we are creating our own news instead of allowing the corporate media dictate what is important. we are no longer blind sheep accepting the propaganda that “the powers that be” have force fed to us for so long. we are making the news, recapturing public opinion. and in doing so we are creating new systems, new communities, new ways of relating to each other. as i have said since before the occupy movement began, the revolution is happening whether you feel you are involved or not. you have only to make yourself aware and ask yourself, what is my role?

in exchange for the interview this wonderful reporter kindly sent pictures from the oakland general strike today. what an amazing gift! she surely will be thanked well for this. 😉

know your history: black power

black power. apparently stokely carmichael said it first. what do you know about the legacy of the revolution? (i hope not just what they have taught you in schools). question: what is america teaching about the black power movement that stemmed from the civil rights movement? the new york times said a recent poll showed that the 60’s & 70’s are hardly covered in american history classes any more because high school teachers don’t think it is an important section of the AP test. this is why high school seniors are graduating with a 12% proficiency rating in their knowledge of history. when schools are not adequately teaching you the story of your own country it becomes necessary to seek and learn for yourself.

“we’re making a revolution by educating the people.”  huey p. newton, bobby seale, eldridge cleaver and other leaders of the black panthers knew that the only way to create a movement was to teach history from the perspective of people overcoming oppression. they knew for damn sure that the schools weren’t doing it.

it is 2011 now. what has changed?
