went to the soul summit music festival in fort greene park today. until now, i thought that i had maybe been guilty of romanticizing brooklyn. but where else can you find beautiful people from all over the world gathering all summer in gorgeous parks for music, dance, art and cultural festivals? i’m telling you, get hip to it. there is a movement going on that celebrates love, diversity and creativity. it is multinational, multigenerational and very real. it goes beyond any one label you may want to call it, it is bigger than any one genre of music, any one nationality, race or ethnicity, it is bigger than brooklyn. i talked with many brooklynites today who told me to keep on being me, to be comfortable finding your own vibe, to spread love and to join the movement. LOVE. i am an artist, brooklyn is my medium.
